Goals

Goal of the Committee is foremost to elaborate a EUREL Position Paper in Cyber Security.

  • Analyzing key cyber trends and practices across EUREL
  • Increase understanding among stakeholders of the critical importance of cybersecurity in electrical systems
  • Offer clear recommendations and best practices to support resilient security measures and compliance
  • Encourage cross-sector partnerships and knowledge-sharing to tackle emerging cyber threats effectively

Committee

The Committee on Cyber Security in Electrical Systems is chaired by Eng. Yakov Hain - Executive Engineer, specialising in Energy Management and Electrical Power Systems and active Member of SEEEI

Yakov Hain

Eng. Yakov Hain

Mr. Hain is a former Senior Executive Vice President & Head of Customers' and Business Development Division in Israel Electric Corporation(IEC), and Senior VP of Project Management Division.(2007-2014). He holds an Electrical Engineer Dipl.El.Eng degree from Technical University of Riga, Latvia and an MBA from Derby University, England.

Yakov Hain

Mr. Hain is a former Senior Executive Vice President & Head of Customers' and Business Development Division in Israel Electric Corporation(IEC), and Senior VP of Project Management Division.(2007-2014). He holds an Electrical Engineer Dipl.El.Eng degree from Technical University of Riga, Latvia and an MBA from Derby University, England.

He has chaired the Supervisory Board of CyberGym since 2013, and was responsible for cyber security of operational systems at IEC. Hain served as Director (2007-2014) and Chairman of the Board at National Coal Supply Corporation.  Additionally, during his work at IEC, Mr' Hain served as General Manager of the Generation Division and Vice President of the Corporation (2004 to 2007), Superintendent of Gas Turbine Power Stations (2002 to 2004), and Deputy Vice President and Head of Electricity, Control and IT Group in the Generation Division (1996 to 2002).

Hain's international experience includes: Cigre, Study Committees (B5 and C5) Member; consultant to Argentine Government on energy supply subjects, consultant to Turkish National Generation and Transmission Company, about 20 publications in the field of Energy Management, Control, Protection and Optimization of Electrical Systems.

Since 2015 Mr' Hain has been the founder, owner and CEO of private company Ydan Enterprise Ltd, specializing in management of modern electrical systems and cyber security.
